Please join the Village of Bishop Hill and the Old Settlers Association on Sunday, September 13,2026 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bishop Hill Cemetery for a dedication of a new monument honoring all Swedish settlers lying in unmarked graves. This will be followed by an Ice Cream Social being sponsored by the Bishop Hill United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m., concluding with a preservation techniques presented by Ryley Lamb, Bishop Hill Site Services Specialist ll.
I wanted to address some issues that we have run into at the museum at the Bishop Hill State Historic Site. Late last summer a failure in the HVAC system in the building caused a spike in humidity levels which led to some minor mold growth. The failure in the HVAC system was addressed, dehumidifiers were brought in, and the humidity soon returned to normal levels. This arrested the mold growth and we have seen no further growth since. However, since there are technically no
